The Ghost Burl. This story was told to me by a fellow female worker that a super large burl existed on a dirt road near my house. I had never seen it, and had traveled that road many times. She stated that it is called the “Ghost Burl” because you only see it once and can never see it again. Well some time went after that and one day in the fall when the leaves were falling down, bam! There it was, about 50 yards down from the road, and huge. I took these pictures and walked off what I believed was the width being over 8 feet wide. It was way up in the air and the tree was not a big one in diameter, and looked impossible for the small tree to have such a large burl on it. Heeding the warning about only seeing it once, I took these pictures, and wrapped yellow police tape around a tree near the road. The burl was all mine! Talked to my boss and he offered up a dump truck and back hoe to remove the burl. The next day driving home, NO tape, and no burl! My wife and I have for years now looked for that darn tree and cannot find it. I guess the curse is true, and I am thankful that I have these pictures. Thanks for reading and believing!

Is this your land? Otherwise, wouldn’t be surprised if the landowner took down your marker.

Nope not on my land, but State Land, and in the middle of no where, a better than dirt road but not paved, very rough. Spooky huh?
