Well I have finally made some progress on my shop. I’ve added three more pics that show a little progress. I have actually been working in this mess for a while now, but finally assembled one of my metal storage shelves and am using it as a temporary workbench. I made a quick pegboard frame and hung it above the “bench” and have some tools already hung up … nice to not have to look through boxes to find a few tools!!!

I also made a quick clamp rack, and hung up my small assortment of clamps. These always seemed to be in the way so having a home for them is a blessing.

I re-purposed an old dresser, painted it, and just have to finish fixing the drawers. This will be the main storage in the shop until I can get a better layout. You can see I’ve mounted my bench-top drill press on this dresser. It’s a perfect fit!

The RAS still takes up too much room, but I have it set up for dadoes, so it’s hard to get rid of it! I’ll find a new location for it, as I begin to move a few things around.

I want to build a new TS cabinet soon, but have a few smaller projects to complete which will help me stay organized. Don’t want to tackle a large project in this chaos!!!!

Power is still an issue. Because I’m in a condo single car garage, there is only one circuit here, and it’s limited. I am using extension cords for most of the tools, including my stationary ones. I intend to run a few more permanent extensions along a couple of walls to give me better access, but will always have limited power due to the singe circuit issue.

That’s it for now, I’ll update as progress is made!

I am looking forward to seeing pictures of your shop when you move.

I will definitely post pics as soon as set up is on it’s way! The sapce seems so small already and I have no equipment in yet!!!

This will definitely be an exercise in mobile cabinets; multi-function work areas; and maybe (not by choice) some tools not being unpacked!

You have the right idea about multi functional equipment…......its the way to go.

-- I will just keep doing it till I get it right.

sounds like a plan. I like the idea of the resonating strips and 2nd drywall – I was planing to do a similar thing if we got a place with an attached garage. just need to use longer screws to attach anything to the wall.

So I posted a few pics of my ‘new’ workshop. This is my new garage at my new apartment. As I stated in my workshop posting, I used to have a 800sq ft shop, and now have less than a single bay shop! Oh well, at least I can get my tools unpacked!
So you can see by the pics (wanted to show progress …) that my shop is yet to be set up, however, LOML already has a few items on the Honey-Do-List. Looking forward to making some sawdust!!!

Paul, it looks like you are off to a good start on setting up your shop. I am sure it is going to be a challenge to adjust to downsizing like you have but making your tools mobile is a good start. Good luck on tackling your honey-do list. If it is anything like mine projects seem to be added to the list faster than they come off it. :)

Keep us posted on your shop’s progress. It is always interesting to watch a shop’s evolution.

Another shop with a motorcycle in the middle – I’m in the same boat—will it be in there all winter? I have also been stuck running a heavy extension cord across the yard and swapping plugs every time I switch tools, and haven’t been able to run dust collection so my bike is a mess. I’ve got the electrician coming next week to take care of that though. Gotta keep the dust off the bike!

I lived in Detroit until a couple of years ago. Good times and good people up there.

I am fortunate enough to have a second single car garage and that stores both my bikes … so I don’t have the dust problem.

Dale, you’re lucky that you can bring an electrician in and solve that cord issue … I think I’m stuck for a while until I move!
