Bush Fire Alert

Today is possibly going to be the worst ‘Bush Fire’ (Wild Fire) day in Sydney’s history.
Extreme weather conditions are expected which could fan 3 existing enormous fire fronts (2 of these have merged) with wind gusts up to 100kph and temperatures close to 40 deg C.
More than 200 homes in the Blue Mountains have already been destroyed with similar numbers seriously damaged.
Luckily there has been only one life lost.
We know of two people who have lost their homes.
Our nephew had a very close call with his house. Police cordoned off his street as it was too dangerous to get near his house from work. Luckily a neighbour was home and doused a fire at his house saving it.
59 fires have broken out throught the State of New South Wales, 19 of these are out of control.
Our thoughts go out to all those who have lost their homes and all their possessions.

I feel for them! What a terrible thing to happen and not a thing you can do about it when it is out of control like that. I hope the weather changed for their sake!................Jim

Keep the firefighters in your prayers too. Fighting wildfire when it is that hot is highly dangerous and strenuous. Take care Grumpy.

-- Bill M. I love my job as a firefighter, but nothing gives me the satisfaction of running my hand over a project that I have built and just finished sanding.

Thanks for your thoughts Jocks . We are safe where we live.
Bill, you a so right, what you say about the fire fighters is very true.
The situation was not as bad as it could have been due to excellent work by hundreds of fire fighters doing backburning operations.
Still a serious situation but much of the danger has eased and most people can return to their homes in the Blue Mountains area.
Still many fires across the State to be managed.

Feel your pain. We get lots of fires here in California.
