My first dovetail. I cut the pins and nibbled out the waste between them on the table saw. I cut the tails on the band saw and removed the waste between them with a chisel after drilling out some of the waste. The wood is some scrap 2×4 planed to about 1-1/4” x 3-1/4”. I have this magnifier and used it when cutting on the bandsaw. The big hole in the center tail is a screw hole from this wood’s previous life.
Not perfectly square and a few small defects, but not too bad. If you can make it out, the fuzzy last photo is a 10” square showing the inside angle of the joint is a bit less than 90 degrees – the gap is 1/16” or so. We won’t talk about how much time I spent on it, however (although that included tuning up my new bandsaw).
