Its an old family curse, going back over 3 generations. I learned woodworking from my Grandfather. I grew up spending hours in my GrandDad's shop, he owned a furniture store in a little town in N.D. refinishing antiques and building his own designs. While in the non-woodworking rest of the world, I could always feel the pull of the sawdust and would dabble here and there. Now as I grow a little older and wiser, I am starting to plan out where I want to be in a few years. My goal is to build up my shop with the tools I will need to start up a custom shop up. I am slowly adding tools as I can afford them and . I have completed a couple of commissions already for some friends and have taken on some repair and refinishing work.

I now have infected others in my family, my brother Adrian (lazyfiremaninTN) and his wife (Pinkhandcuffgirl, BTW she is in law enforcement) and last but certainly not least, tennesseefan (Adrian's son)

I look forward to the day when I can move back to TN and set up shop with my brother. As soon as the housing market improves in my area, I'm on my way.

Thanks for the warm welcome….its been a long road back to the woodshop and you have made me feel welcome. I hope I can add a touch of my opinon, a bit of humor and host of “done that” when people bring up their mistakes. They are the best learning tool most times. Shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you’ll be in the company of stars.

Welcome to LJ. Your first posted project is really beautiful, looking forward to many more. My family and friends also expect a much bigger discount on the occassional commission, I always have to remind them that any larger of a commission and I’ld have to sell my tools to pay for their projects.
