I made this to help with the Heating/Cooling bills and to make an ugly hole in the roof look better and still be funtional. I installed a light so at night it has a soft glow. The glass is 1/4” temperd/laminated and has a faux stainglass film.

Two Drawer File Cabinet

I recently made this file cabinet from plans in WS mag. It will replace an old metal one I’ve hated for years. The false drawer fronts were an interesting twist on this they’re supposed to look like single card files like in the library (when I was a kid) and once it was completed I came to appreciate it more. As I have to do most of the time, I used a lot of “extra” wood I had left over from other projects. Of course like all plans that call for ¾ plywood and dimension it that way, (The box stores only sell the slightly thinner size) so that is challenge in itself. It would be nice to have an unlimited budget for lumber one of these days!!! The stain is MinWax Golden Oak and the finish is the usual mix Polly/Boiled Linseed oil/Mineral Spirits.

Thanks for looking and of course all comment welcome.

I made this sideboard (buffet) from plans out of WOOD Magazine. It is all oak with Golden Oak stain and poly finish. It was a fun project but when I was about 90% complete I realized there would have been things I would do differently next time. I Hate when that happens!! It turned out ok but next time I will shop more diligently for the hardware. I got this stuff from Rockler and yes, it was overpriced like everything else they have.

This was and still is one of my favorite projects, the 2X4 Guy would be proud, as I constructed the horse from 2X lumber. It is especially pleasing when you take a square piece and mold it on an inflatable drum sander, watching it take its final shape. The finish was an experience as well, I used a coat of hide glue over the base coat, and then when the latex coat is applied it crackles up. My little ones love it!

I’m having trouble figuring out how to link in photo bucket (working on it for over an hour before I gave up) but when I do I will post the assembly process.

ReSaw sled for 14" Bandsaw

Thanks to Lumberjock Bob#2 I now have a ReSaw sled for my band saw. I sort of copied his design from this site and have to say it works like a champ. After I made the first cut on several pieces of diferent lengths and then I swithced to a tall fence to cut individaul slabs or boards. I have a bunch oak and ash from my yard that I will be turning into some nice useable lumber. As you can see I was pushing this saw to the limit but she made it through quite impressively. One thing I will mention, this stuff is HEAVY! I cant wait to find ome nice smaller peices of something else.

Thanks bob #2 for the idea/inspiration.

I planed it down, cut it up and made this wine buffet. The plans (idea) are from WS mag but this is one piece and not modular pieces. You notice when I kick the wifes car out of the garrage I have a lot of room.
