Ever since I was a child I have been drawn to woodworking. When i was very young i use to pound nails into boards in my dads shop. I high school I began taking shop classes and quickly became truely enthralled with woodworking. I started serious woodworking by building a hope chest, basically a glorified box. My next project was more indepth. I built a futon and became well involved in making mortise and tenon joints, over 200. About four years ago I was introduced to the lathe and was hooked. My first experiences involved using screwed on faceplates to make very crude and arbitrarily formed bowls with scrapers...more to come.

Welcome to Lumber Jocks! This is a great place to get – or give – advice about woodworking on the forums and the project posts are a wonderful source of new ideas. I look forward to seeing your projects and posts.

To get the most feedback on your projects, it’s best to only post 1 or 2 at a time. This way you will get feedback over several days and from a wide variety of members.

Please enjoy your membership.

Hi there,
Welcome to LumberJocks… I joined the site myself a few months ago and will give you fair warning, this site is VERY ADDICTIVE, VERY EDUCATIONAL, and VERY FUN…. so sit back, enjoy the ride and learn from the other LJ’s as they are a group of extremely talented people that are also very friendly…

Enjoy your time here on LJ and pass the word to any of your woodworking buddies about us…

Hey there, noticed you haven’t posted anything recently – trying to nudge people into getting back into LJs
hopefully you’ll get re-engaged and active as there are so many new projects and thoughts out there to share!
The site has improved drastically since your last activity.
Don’t miss out on checking out some of the amazing projects your fellow LJ’s have created!
Best of Luck
