I was introduced to woodworking in high school, where I took every woodworking class they offered, which was quite a few as they had 2 full time wood shop teachers (and many other shop teachers for other things like electronics, welding, engines, etc)
My first jobs after graduation were at a small cabinet making shop and a custom stair company.
My knees were not healthy and I had to stop that kind of work and went into other things and my woodworking totally died out, and I basically have not touched a woodworking tool for a couple of decades.
I am currently on disability from my job as a computer techie guy for a school division and am getting a strong hankering to do some woodworking as a hobby.

Just today I traded with someone in town. I gave them a good used laptop in trade for a 12inch wood lathe in quite poor condition (an old Craftsman with a round bar for a bed where the toolrest moves along) and a plunge router that comes with a router table as well.

So I am not doing any woodwork yet because my garage is not heated and its cold in Canada, but I will accept tool castoffs or trade computer tech support for woodworking tools or some nice wood that I can turn.

Welcome to LumberJocks.
For the record there are a few that have that same Lathe her on the site myself included so let me know if there are any questions about it. I use mine to do a lot of pen turning but it is certainly able to do way more.

Look forward to seeing some of your projects once the shop warms up a bit.
