Hitachi CW40 Scroll Saw being discontinued at Lowes - 1 reply

I have been thinking about getting a scroll saw for the last few months and after researching I decided the Hitachi CW40 sold at Lowes was the best saw for me in my price range. I was in no hurry to get the saw so I have been watching for sales. I noticed several weeks ago the Hitachi was no longer being listed online although it was still in ...

Digital Angle Gauge - 6 replies

Hey all, Does anyone have any experience with the Cen-Tech Digital Angle Gauge from HF? It’s about $15 cheaper than the Wixey. I have a HF locally, but not a Woodcraft or Rockler to get the Wixey so there would be shipping on top of the additional cost. Yes, I am frugle (my wife says cheap) but if the gauge is not comparable then there ...

Hey all. Need your thoughts, opinions, etc on a decision I am pondering. I am in the market for a new TS in the $400-$500 range. I have settled on the Ridgid R4511 or the Craftsman 21833. I can still get the Ridgid locally for $499 and with a 10% discount it would be around $450. The Craftsman is $550 but I have a Christmas gift certificate...

Central Machinery 2HP Dust Collector - 20 replies

Has anyone bought this recently? I received a Harbour Freight flyer yesterday and it is on sale for $180. Normally $250. There is only one entry in the review section for this so I thought I would ask for other input. Is it worth it? I buy cheap throw away hand tools at HF sometimes but have never bought anything of substance from them. Th...

Need electrical help - 5 replies

I am making a dust filter from an old HVAC fan. The fan is a 220V, 2A, 1/3 HP fan with 3 speeds. I am planning to buy a 4 position switch for control. I was at the hardware store today and the switch I was going to purchase was labeled 230V, 3A, 1/4 HP. I didn’t get it because of the 1/4 HP rating. I know I am a little rusty with my ...

I have a Bosch 4000 tablesaw in my garage shop. I bought the Bosch primarily because it folds up and stores away when not in use. I have been using it now for a couple of years and it has been a good saw. However, during the course of events I have used it not only as a tablesaw, but as an assembly table, staining/varnishing table etc. I hav...

Glue Spots - 8 replies

I recently read somewhere that wiping your work with Mineral Spirits would show any glue spots prior to applying finish. I am about to finish a chest of drawers and wondered if anyone had tried this? Did it work? Did the Mineral Spirits affect the finish that you applied? Any other way to identify and clean up glue spots that work for you?...
