I am a beginner woodworker. I got started last summer. I live in York County Virginia just outside the Hampton city limits. I am retired from the AF and currently work as an engineer for a non-profit corporation working with the DoD. I started woodworking last summer after finishing a graduate degree. I was thinking about going for a PhD, but decided to put my spare time into something I had always wanted to try instead. Thus my start into woodworking. I am learning mainly from online resources and books. I welcome all the help I can get from the folks on this site.

I’ve been wanting a Jointer for a while. Since I have a small garage shop and woodworking is only a hobby I have been looking at the Grizzly and Ridgid 6” jointers. Did I mention I’m cheap too? Anyway the Ridgid normally sells...
