I would like to encourage every one to go to their shops and build the best garden bench you can.
Looks like there are a lot of great prizes up for grabs to the greatest number of Lumberjocks ever.
It looks like I won’t even come close to having the time to compete this time around. Two years olds
take way too much of your time.
So lets get to work!

Hi Garry
I have not seen the post on the summer award for 2009 – maybe you get it faster in the states, than we do over here :)
Cancell this – I have just found it.

yes, 2 y/o takes a lot of time off your hands… luckily it’s in a good way – but doesnt help woodworking much – I hardly have time to WATCH the contests online… not to mention participate… but will be looking forward to hear about it, lol.
thanks for the reminder.

I have been an LJer for less than a year and have never entered a contest here. Perhaps one of you more veteran LJers will know the answer to two questions regarding the contest rules:
1. Must the bench be made between now and the deadline or can one enter a bench made in the past?
2. What is meant by “must be your creation”? In other words, does this refer to “create” as in you must be the one who makes it or does it mean both the design and execution must be yours? Better yet, I am asking if you can make the bench from someone else’s plans, say a book or magazine? Thanks.

Lenny, you can enter a bench that you already made in the past.
as far as your creation goes – it means you MADE it. I believe that using someone elses plans is valid. but would probably be courteous to credit that design/plan/person.

We hear you Gary, but we know that you can be very sneaky.
Lets fill up the projects with lots of Garden benches.

I found out about the contest when I clicked the “contests” tab at the top of the screen.
I probably found it right before it was formally announced.
Lenny – PurpLev is correct. I made my entry for the secret compartment 10 years before the contest.
You could start with someone elses plans and tailor them to your own needs or modify them however you want.
