I have put together a collection of my past projects that are relativity fast and simple to make.

They make great gifts.

Time to go out to the shop and make some sawdust!

Good idea Gary.

These wire cheese slicers were a big hit as gifts from me, and easy to make.

Hi Gary. Good idea on this post.
Perhaps you should tagged it as Xmas gifts or something, than can let it be quickly indexed.

Great idea – start early.
I love making x mas gifts. The usual cutting boards, jewelry boxes, turned x mas ornaments and candle holders.
But I also like to find an eager candidate to donate my shop and time to so he can make stuff.

Last year, my apprentice, Randy was a little depressed because he was broke and couldn’t buy all of his 12 neices and nephews a nice Christmas gift. So, we went thru the scrap pile and made their names out of hardwood. We used a font that looked like something from a beatles album and they were 1 1/2” thick so they can sit on a shelf.
They were 12 to 16” long by 3” tall. We sanded the sharp edges and sprayed with satin varnish. Perfect!

He saved alot of money, I recycled some good peices of scrap, Randy could say he MADE the gifts, and the kids loved them!

One year, my best friend Stuart and I made 12 walnut dovetailed jewelry boxes together. They came out great!

Sharing time in a shop can be a wonderful gift.

Have your say...
