OK, I’m following you so far. How did you come up with this thing anyway? I’ve only heard of a Clavichord a few times. It is going to be a very interesting project. Thanks for sharing it with us, Gary.

your precise details and patterns almost make it look like I could make one! ALMOST.. I’m not quite that brave. But, boy, wouldn’t my daughter be surprised (and honoured) to receive a musical instrument made by her mother! (especially if it worked haha)

Tom,

I like a challange and making something new. I have always loved the sound of a harpsichord, and the expense of buying one is way out of my range. The next best thing is to make one. That done I have to move on to other things. A clavichord is my next step, even though it’s a step backwards as far as complexity goes.

Since I don’t play, I am working on turning my harpsichord into a digital player that will play itself liike a player piano. Now that’s a project.

Great stuff Gary. This will be interesting to watch.

I think you should go for it Deb. Talk about jumping in.

It’s looking good Gary. I don’t follow all the instructions. But if I ever want to do this I’ll know where to go.

Come on Debbie, you can do it.

The next part will be the hardest of the entire project.
It’s taking me a while trying to find the easiest way to do it.
Making it easy seems to be taking me more time than just doing it.
But doing so will make it easier for me to do it also.

After the keyboard is done, building the case is just like making a drawer with a lid.

nice try—I fell for the “you can build a Thorsen Table” challenge… but I think I will draw the line at an instrument!!!
