Ever Had One Of Those Days!!!!!!!!!!!!

O.k. Weather is finally cooperating so that I can get back in the shop. All th family matters are taken care of, in other words, I have time to go to the shop and build some picture frames for a co-worker. Okay, not a really big project, but time in the shop is great anytime you can get it. Okay so go out there and get the wood ready, get my measurements, ahh the sound of the table saw running. Start trimming the tongue and groove off the wood and then was going to spit the wood into two pieces for each side of the frame. Everything is going good then I realize the motor is running on the saw but the blade is slowing down. Oh man, what gives, well long story short, lost the drive belt on the saw. Okay, Plan B. I got a brand new 14” band saw for my birthday in April, so I turn that on, and wow nothing is turning. I rtealize the guys at the tool store when they put this together, they had the wheels to tight. Okay fine, minor adjustment, fix this and am happily cutting again. Then all of a sudden, The motor is running but the blade is slowing down. The new belt has come off!!!!!!!!! I Give UP!!!!!!!!! This is not meant for me to do this today. Ever had one of those days!!!!!!!!!! Went to Walmart with my wife instead>>>>>>>>

Ok ladies and gentleman… It has been awhile since I posted the first one. Got the roof on with a little help from my bother in law and a friend of his, they work cheap. But it is dried in, and all that is left is some facia work, put the stairs in on the inside, and put the ramp up so I can get the motorcycle in and the lawnmower. Just finding the time is the key…. Pictue 1 is the front outside, Picture 2 one of the 2 lofts that will be tied together when I put the stairs in, picture 3, my ladder dont know why it here, but its a little giant,, love the thing, pictue 4 is another outiside picture. Enjoy. anyone who is in the area feel free to stop by. The garage is starting to look empty as some stuff is starting to move in to its new home so I can have room. Just started my grandson’s first birthday present today, but that is another post, Have a great week y’all. Thanks for looking. Gary

Okay, I have been wanting to do this for a long time and have finally strated the transformation. Some of the pictures show you what my garage/workshop look like now. I have started the shed in the back yard, and as you can tell from the pictures, it is coming along fine. This thing is big!!!!! It will be two stories. Got a lot of stuff to put up there from my house and my mother in laws house. Enjoy the pictures and will be working on it this weekend, hopefully geting the roof on and drying it in. The first and second picture are my garage right now. The third is the beginnings of the shed, the forth is the walls up, and the fifth is the bones of the shed as it stands right now. My mind cant wait but the body after three days of working is letting me know how old I am. Please excuse the way this is set up, this is my first time at adding pictures to a blog.

Thanks to a fellow LJ'r (Don Husslein)

I knew when a fellow LJ’r Tom Francis told me about this site, that is was something special. Little did I know!! I was perusing the projects recently and saw a new workbench posted by Don Husslein. The bench was beautiful, but what really caught my eye was had attached to it an old Gripmaster vise system. I was given one of these in a box, i.e. no instructions, no pictures, no nothing but the pieces. Well, lo and behold, here is one on a work bench, and had made the remark to Don that I had one on his post, but that I didnt have any instructions on it, and was going to have to write the manufacturer to see if they still had one.
Well, seems he had a copy on a CD and sent it to me. Offered to pay shipping on it, but he would not take it. So, Don thanks for the CD, I got in the mail the other day and cant wait to watch it. Only reason I havent yet is that I am starting to build a 12×24 shed to clear out my garage so that I can turn it into my new workshop. But that is another blog, to sart shortly. Thanks again Don.

New Presents for me this weekend

Took the LOML down to Seabrook Island this past weekend for some time with some friends who own a condo there. One of the things we like to do is go “Antiqueing”, except we all like the junk stores more than the Charleston “Antique” stores. A bit pricey if you know what I mean. Well we found this one shop and as soon as I walked in the door I saw tools!!!!!! Went over and looked at what they had, usual stuff, old saws, very worn, a couple brace and bits, but they also had 2 Stanley #5 planes one with a handle that had been cracked and the other in great shape, i.e. no problems with the soles nor the iron nor the handle. They also had a 22 1/2” Craftsman jointer plane. Well I loked at them, then decided to walk away and try to figure which one I would like to buy. The Stanley was marked at $40.00, and the Craftsman was $45.00. like I said. both in great shape. Well as we walked around, my wife asked me if there was anything I saw that I would like, told her about the planes, and she said to show them to her. Went up to the table she looks at them, then asks if I thought it was a good price, and told her I felt it was, and that I was thinking of getting one of them but did not know which one, she floors me and says “get both. I never know what to get you for you birthday , so this way you get something you want.” Birthday is not till April, but go figure. Took them up to pay for them, the guy gives me 20% off both right off the bat. Ended up getting both for 69.00. What a birthday present and what a woman!!!!!!!!!
