I made a little progress on my cherry toy chests this past weekend. The panels are made from 1/2” thick solid maple and are raised on the inside so they can fit in a 1/4” groove. This is my second project using solid panels and I think I might be getting a little better at it.
I still need to work on the lids.
Thanks for checking on my progress.

Nice work Brian!
Wow did you decide to resolve/prevent the pinched finger issue?

Thanks Brian!
I agreed with your previous comment that a curve in the top rail looked out of place. I decided to leave it straight and I am going to install a lid support that gently lowers the lid (see here).
I’m also going to leave plenty of over hang on the front and sides so that the fingers will have a better chance of clearing the rail.
Thanks for checking out my progress. I need to work on the lids next. These things are getting HEAVY! :^)
