Ppainting the end of logs before sawmill - 1 reply

I recieved a 20’ long 19” round oak and 6’ long 20” round walnut log from a friend with some acres. I am going to have it sawed and a local antique sawmill show but what type of paint do I use on the ends of the log before it goes to the saw mill?
