Okay, I started off going down to the shop around 08:30, did a bit of cleaning, organizing, and stowing away and somehow managed to recover 18 cubic feet of space! In a shop as small as mine, that is a huge deal. After clean up, I started working on the frame saw. The first discovery was that I actually had some 1 3/8 by 3/4 Douglas Fir stock in the back of my shop I had completely forgotten. Last weekend I had high hopes for this weekend. Well, for me the weekend continues through today, thank you instructor in-service. I didn’t get a chance to go over to my local purveyor of metals before Saturday so I had to wait until Monday. There seamed to be some confusion as the brass was priced like gold. Some nonsense about special order material didn’t qualify as a cut-off so rather than the $4/lb I expected it was $4.33/in, keep in mind this stock is 5/8 square, so the 2...

Today was a good shop day. I managed to get several hours in all at one go. Things started of with filtering through some restoration/reconditioning project possibilities which will make there way to LJ in the near future, then I moved on to the tear down of the tensioning system currently not working on the frame saw, followed by some think time to design the new blade holder in steel. I went down to the shop first thing this morning after breakfast and started with a little straightening up and extending a power strip up one wall so I could plug in a couple of scoop lights. One of my frustrations yesterday was the shadows kept showing up just when I needed more light, not less. With the lights up and in place I layed out everything to get this blade holder done.
