Part 1: part 2 of 1

07-05-2010 02:54 AM by Flemming | 3 comments »

Right. Well, I thought I made a series last time, but apparently I didn’t. so here’s part II, cunningly disguised as part I so to speak ;) This project is has been a daunting task to say the least. pure luck has brought me the wood I need (and then some) and I’m horrible at designing things and sticking to the plan. mostly because I lack the discipline to “measure twice, cut once”.. so as I said in the first post, the design was laid out, but changes are inevi...

Part 2: nothing but trouble

07-09-2010 09:32 PM by Flemming | 4 comments »

So the past 4 days have brought nothing but trouble… ahem… challenges… I was very close to scrapping the project at one point because I got so fed up one day (one of those days where nothing goes right and everything you do has the complete opposite effect of what you intended..). This has been the biggest challenge on this project, and I’ve had more than one set-back along the way, but I’m pleased with the final look of things. first things first. The box, as mentioned is pretty much finished and I have chiselled out the slots for the hinges. The picture above shows 2 of the 4 hinge-slots finished. 4 hinges might be a...

Part 5: The final frontier

07-19-2010 11:15 PM by Flemming | 8 comments »

WELL ladies and gentlemen… the journey that was the jewellery box has come to an end. I am quite pleased with the final outcome. I havnt taken many pictures, it’s late here and there’s no good light available, but thought you might like to see it before I upload some pictures to the finished projects section. I give you, the jewellery box: a view of the front side of the box, with the latch in place. a view of the marquetry I did, it’s finished laqueri...
