so the jewellery box journey has ended, and it’s on to the next project. I am going on vacation for 2 weeks in greece and I wont have access to much. I’ve always wanted a thors hammer amulet for myself, since he’s a big part of my heritage and the most awesome god of all. I will bring a small block of wood with me and a pen knife and give it a go…
For those of you who are unfamiliar with norse mythology, Thor is the god of war, lighting and thunder, and is so famous as to have a day of the week named after him (i’ll leave you to guess which one). He travels in a chariot drawn by two goats, Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr. He resides at his hall Bilskirnir in Valhala. Probably best known for his hammer Mjöllnir, which is the most popular representation of Thor today.
below are some pictures of thors hammer that I like, which I found online. I cant hope to include the detail of some of them, but I will take some inspiration from each of them and incorporate it into my own. For example, I dont like the hammers that have such a sharp point at the bottom. and the top of the amulet needs to have a representative wolfs head, simply to honour norse mythology.
