The saga continues. After the dry fit up, I decided to pre-stain all of the component pieces before my final assembly. My Daughter in Law selected the ‘color’ she wanted and I did what I could to come up with it. Here are a couple of pics of the backside panels and legs. I still have to do some touch ups and apply a few coats of wipe on poly. I will do that after it’s fully assembled.

Inside View

My son and daughter in law stopped by yesterday and both of them loved it.
My daughter, who is expecting her first this October saw it dry assembled two weeks ago and said “Dad, I want one too!”
That was music to my ears.
Ya’ll have a great day.

that”s a big compliment to get an “order” before the first one is even done. Looks great.

This looks pretty good, Bruce. To tell the truth I am surprised that your wife didn’t want one as well. Maybe you should go ahead and make two while you are at it just in case she does. :)

Kenn and Scott,
Thanks for the kind words.
Scott,
Wifey didn’t ask for a blanket chest because she already has one. What she did ask for was an 8-9’ bench seat with raised panels. She wants it made out of hard maple with a honey glaze to match our kitchen cabinets.
That’s project #3 in line after I finish this one. A doll house for our grand daughter and the blanket chest for our daughter are in front of her project.
Isn’t it amazing I have 4 women giving me orders… (Wife, Daughter, Daughter in Law and Grand Daughter)
