I'm pretty new at woodworking, I've done a couple things here and there messing around, but very wet behind the ears. In the past year there has been some strange metamorhosis going on with me where my passion and thirst for knowledge for woodworking has simply went off the charts!
As a 41 year old "sales engineer" at a foundry, my 9 hour a day prison takes care of my child support obligations, but that's it. I get bashed, squeezed, and stressed from every concievable angle every minute of every working day. NEVER going home at the end of the day feeling like I've gained anything, in fact each day leaves me with less and less of myself.
Woodworking has given me hope, and a renewed sense of self. It also provides me with something I haven't had in a long long time, a sense of accomplishment. From something as simple as a nice straight clean cut, to the biggest project, each step of the woodworking process has been an awesome experience. Given my engineering and manufacturing backround, add a dash of my "artsy" side (drawing, painting etc) and I'm loving it all!!
I come to the Lumberjocks on bended knee and bowed head. Hoping for the opportunity to grow, learn, and even share eventually. I feel this is the next step in my quest. I respect you all, I'm hoping you can appreciate where I am now in my journey, and allow me to hop aboard!!
Thank you,
Bob

Let me welcome you to LJs. I hope that you will find this to be an interesting and enriching aspect of your woodworking journey.
-- With God's help all things are possible- even woodworking. Woodworking is not just a hobby, it is an (expletive deleted) expensive hobby.
