I am a beginner and have really thus far done one total carving. It was a Canyon Wren carved in what I would say "relief wannabe"
I LOVE carving though, and I figure that anything I do creatively, is something I am going to be new at no matter what it is! Now is the time in my life where I get to play....and my creativity gets to just "be" without that judge in my head telling me I can't. I insist on having fun. Carving to me is fun. I am not out to be perfect and am allowing myself that freedom.
I have carved in wax before, which is more forgiving to be sure, but I have never drawn or painted or sketched or really anything that mattered to anyone. I made things with my kids...papermache, things like that. But now...Fun, Play and Non Judgement are the tunes I want to sing, soar, and just express and Inspire myself by.
Oh, I am a lifelong die-hard herpetologist too...that means I love reptiles :-) and kids...and cute fuzzy things too...but I like feathers better than fur, especially when it's all over my black shirt.
