Buy ANOTHER Radial Arm Saw

Man, I don't know what's wrong with me…

Just yesterday, I finally finished rehabbing my Craftsman Radial Arm Saw, it cuts beautifully, not quite as smooth as glass… but close enough for now. So, it's time for a new project… maybe something that actually uses the saw. But no… instead I found myself online, looking at the old dewalts and delta/rockwells.

Guess I'm lucky I really don't have the cash to justify buying one…

I learned a looooong time ago that when you decide you want something, and put in the time and effort to research it, then you finally conduct a search and actually BUY one…..

The Next Step is …. QUIT LOOKING!

Because I PROMISE you, you will find one, in better shape, newer, and at a better price if you keep looking!

(don ask me how many times I have proved this theory is correct! :)

There is NOTHING wrong with "window" shopping on the interweb! I scour CraigsList 3-5 times a day. You never know when that deal of a lifetime will show up!!! Also, dreweling in private is much prefered to the tool coral at the local HD!!!

BTW: I have an old DeWalt RAS, I am recommissioning.

I know, Joe (is it joe?)... but I don't seem to suffer from the standard tool mania-mine is a different, weird variety, Tool Mania type C. "Newer" isn't a word that appeals to me much: I like things with a bit of history. Old tools are the embodied blood and sweat of our ancestors: new tools are made by robots. And that's why those old dewalts… ooo baby! I want one from the period that Mr. Dewalt (inventor of the RAS) was running the company, just seems so right in some way… also… I guess I just really really liked the project of rehabbing my saw. Biggest successful undertaking yet, for me.

Sweet saw, DIYaholic! While I'm still a total newbie, I find that now when I scour the Internet for RAS stuff that I've actually built up a bit of knowledge on the subject. Happy to offer my thoughts, if you think it might be help you in your saw rehab.
