Thank you gentlemen for all the kind salutations. You woodworking mavens admittedly know how to make a newbie feel welcome.

I found LJs via my power tool research and hunting down reviews. The wife has given me “the go ahead” to spend about $1200 and it’s burning a hole in my pocket. I have a fortunate connection at both Lowe’s and HD which will help with the costs. I already have most of the common handheld power tools so I’m now in the market for:

Ridgid R4511 TS
Ridgid EB4424 Sander
Bosch 4212L MS
Bosch 1619EVS & 1617EVSPK routers

My father has been a woodworking enthusiast all his life (he has an envious Jet/Powermatic setup with all the bells and whistles in his shop) so hopefully a little bit of his talent has been passed on to me. I have no doubt what he hasn’t taught me will be found here. I’ll start with making a few goodies for my shop (e.g. woodworking bench, cabinets, router table, multiple jigs, etc.). Then I’ll concentrate on furniture for the house.

I’m truly glad I found this hideout of yours. This forum is replete with knowledge, ingenuity, and kindness. I think I’ll stay a while.

Sincerely, Brad Schmidt

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless
