Building a New Wood Shop #9: More Siding, More Grass, More Prep Work

« Part 8: Work on the Roof Continues,Some Siding Up, Entry Doors Installed Part 9 of Building a New Wood Shop series Part 10: Outside of Shop Complete (with a temporary change) »

They just about have the siding done. They still need to install the soffit over the old roof. I’ll need to paint the steel doors & that little bit of trim around the doors. And I’d like to see that concrete landing poured soon. It’s getting to be a pain to go in & out of the shop over that form.
Back Siding
The front was only sided down to the top of the window to leave room for the brick & fake shutters.
Front Siding
I’ve removed the old siding from the shared wall & removed a portion of the nail board so the electricians can install & wire the recepticles. Those sections of nail board will be put back before the drywall goes up.
Shared Wall 1
I am also removing the little portion of the old yellow siding that sticks beneath the truss so the drywall for the fire barrier can be installed.
Shared Wall 2
What is that green stuff coming up & spoiling the look of that straw?! And notice the tree stumps in the front of my house… The electric company finally cut down the four trees in front on my house. LOTS OF LIGHT WILL COME IN THAT NEW FRONT WINDOW NOW!!! (When it gets here)
New Grass
The electricians ar planning to be here tomorrow (Monday) & Tuesday. And I ordered the lights for over the doors & the front window. Hopefully they will show up for the electricians to install. I’ll be installing them with the horizontal mounting on the walls. Click the following link to see the photo of the light.

It looks as though thiings are going relatively well & I’ll be posting more updates this week.

Love those double doors. I presume you will be doing some concrete walks. Be sure you make them wide enough. Looks like you have things pretty will planed out. It is going to be a great shop! Thanks for posting.

God Bless

Yes, I plan on doing a walk. But that’s going to have to wait ‘til the wallet catches up to my expenses. After the shop is done enough to move some toys in, I plan on making a large size furniture cart with 8” pneumatic tires to move the large tools & to move any large projects that I make later on. I’m making it so I can use retchet straps to secure tools & furniture to the top. It should be able to tolerate a bit of uneven ground.

I’d enjoy making a bit of that new sawdust smell. But right now it’s just some 2”X4”s getting cut up to make nailing surfaces for the drywall. I’m getting anxious to get moved in.

The great weather we’ve had the last few weeks or so (finally) is making that grass come up nicely. Amerens’ tree cutting crew massacred many of the trees over in my neck of the woods, a few miles away. It’s a shame.

I’m digging how the shop is looking now.
