« Part 4: setting the hard right Part 5 of If one writes a song can one post it here? series Part 6: A Chance To Be »

I look out my window
and who do I see coming.
It’s Lucinda Marie
oh my God she has a gun.
My feet take a tracking
right on out the back door.
A shot rang out, knocked me down,
she said your going to be mine
forever more.

That was twenty years ago
oh I love her so.

Will you come and dance with me, she said yes but I have to fly,
my legs gone bad but I didn’t die.
I picked her up, she laughed out loud,
sent my heart into a cloud.
When I come down will you hold me,
all night?

I look out my window
and I see trouble coming.
My feet take me flying
right on out the back door.
She grabbed on
never to let go.
Oh, I love her so.

Will you come and dance with me, she said yes but I have to fly,
my legs gone bad but I didn’t die.
I picked her up, she laughed out loud,
sent my heart into a cloud.
When I come down will you hold me,
all night?

Oh honey I have lied to you.
I will love you forever.
Not just until,
may we never part.

When I come down will you hold me,
all night?

Is this guy happy or sad with his lot in life? I read this five times and I’m still confused, Jack…Unless it’s one of those personalized songs that mean everything to the people involved…and people who know them. Like the old “Ring, Ring” song…

The guy is young and care free. She comes after him and gets him. She has Muscular dystrophy and is in a wheelchair. At their wedding he picks her up to dance and she starts laughing with joy. She needs to be held all night because she was abuse throughout her childhood and needs time to feel safe. They grow into a deep love and on their 20th anniversary he reflects back on the shadows they have cast. How she held on and helped him become a better man. The promise that he will love her “untill death do us part” he brakes for he will love her forever. Just a simple little love song though the guitar work in it is some of my favorite .
The next one is a tad heavy.
