Hello all, My Mother in Law volunteers at Sunnyside Equestrian Center in New Jersey, for a program called SPUR (Special People United to Ride), http://www.spuronline.org/index.htm. Sup folks, I just got a new Veritas Large Shoulder plane yesterday, i noticed something different on it from my other Veritas planes; there isn’t a microbevel on it from the factory. Is a microbevel something you shouldn’t normally have on a shoulder plane? Thanks! Ev

Wood Identification Help - 5 replies
Hi Folks, Grabbed these logs since they looked like walnut with only the endgrain exposed. Got to slice into one tonight, and, at least to me, doesn’t look or smell like Walnut. Any ideas as to what it is? (or confirmation on Walnut?) Thanks folks! Ev

Some Walnut from Sandy; how to store it - 2 replies
Hi Folks, Walking around a neighborhood in Jersey, came across some Walnut logs. Just too nice and clear to pass up. But, the home owner had already cut them into shorter pieces. So i figure, some bowl blanks, at worst. How should i cut and store these until I get a chance to turn? It will probably be a while before I get a chance too. Jus...

Wife's Grandfathers old Delta Unisaw - 5 replies
So, been doing a little research. Looks like it has a Bullet motor. Only 1 HP, but some say thats different because of the type of motor it is? Hoping someone smarter than me on this can explain why. I’m planning on refurbing it, I can’t wait to get it home (it’s in NJ rightnow) I’m wondering what everyone’s inpu...

Nightmare! Dry lubing my planer bed rusted it - 25 replies
Hello, So the other day, i scrubbed down the iron bed with the back of a Scotch Brite sponge, and some Denatured Alcohol. I followed it up with a spray down of PB Blaster Dry lube (got it at Home Depot):http://www.blastergroup.com.au/dry-teflon-lube.html Next morning, the bed was all rusty. I freaked, as it was my Grizz G0453P Planer that ...

Got my first band saw; What blades should I get? - 7 replies
Hi Folks, So, my buddy was walking through Sears, and found this on clearance for $160. Quite a steal IMO: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00922400000P I was waiting to get a Grizz 17 inch with the Cast iron wheels, but for $160, hell, I couldn’t say no, and this will open up a lot more things I can do now. So, I’...

Anyone out there with a Grizzly G0453P? - 2 replies
Hi Folks, I got a G0435P planer back in December. The power cord on it was so pitifully short, that I went to change it to a much longer one, I’d rather not have to use an extension cord with 240v. So, when i unhooked the cables from inside the magnetic switch box, one came loose by accident, and I’m not sure where it goes....

Drawer building; Before or After main glue up - 2 replies
Hi folks, Last project, i made the drawers by clamping up the table, then fitting it. Do most people prefer/reccomend doing the main piece glue THEN creating the drawers after? I’m thinking this would have made my life easier

Hello LJ’s, So, i’m a woodworking noob (about a year under my belt, only time to do it as a hobby). I’m even more of a hand tool noob. But I would love to change that, and “man up” and get my hands working with some hand tools. My buddy found a no5 Bailey plane at a garage sale. Only 5 bucks. Now, where ...
