« Part 1: Case work.... Part 2 of Built In bookcase series no next part

so I finished the shelves, 6 in total, and the face frame. All it’s missing, the top anywyas, is the cove at the top so it ties into the bulkhead. Next step is the lower frame, drawers, drawer faces and toe kick. If everything goes according to the plan I should be done in about 3 weeks….. so more like a month and a half or so…..

Nice job! My next project is similar. I haven’t decided yet whether I’m going to put cabinets on the bottom or just run the bookshelves all the way down.

What kind of wood did you use?

the bottom case is plywood from HD, the upper cases are birch plywood with pine for the frame… I wanted to do walnut, but I don’t have a jointer nor a planer, and I couldn’t find any stock that was close to the sizes I needed. That and I didn’t want to risk messing up nice wood until I get a little more practice….

Have your say...
