« Part 2: vanity table Part 3 of Project Concepts series no next part

My wife is needing a place to put all of her jewelry at, and she loves to look at her self in the mirror. So I came up with this drawing for a 2 in 1. This will be similar to a medicine cabinet except the insides will be designed for jewelry. I dont know if I want to use all wood or buy metal hooks for necklaces. And I am needing help with the ring holders. I was thinking about 1/2 inch foam rounded over with felt over it to keep the rings from falling out. But then I thought that foam would quickly loose its grip due to the type it is. I was going to use insulation foam that you get at lowes. Then I thought about 1/2 inch plywood wrapped in a rubber like material. This maybe be too stiff to get the rings in. I dont want to buy the piece. So does anyone have any suggestions for me?

You have probably completed this project or abandoned it by now, but here goes my totally untested idea that will probably need some testing to perfect.

I’ve never made anything to hold jewelry, but I believe that I would use a firm grade of foam rubber, similar to the material used for mouse pads [The ones that are about 3/8 inches thick]. I might even use an old mouse pad for this. I’d cut a strip around 1 1/2 inches wide and as long as needed. I’d then fold it over in a tight “U” shape and wrap it in felt. Then repeat that process several times and butt the covered pieces inside a frame with their long sides touching. Rings and similar pieces of jewelry could then be pushed in between the pieces.

Tried to send you a message, but since I have not completed 5 posts yet, I am not allowed. [I’ve only been a member for 1,721 days]. We are very close together geographically. I have an Owensboro mailing address, but live outside of the city limits off of State Route 54, fairly close to Philpot.
