Here is a list of data that I have compiled for making columns out of 2×4s or 1×4s. It took me several days to get all the info worked out. Now if I want to build a column I can use my charts and find out exactly what I need. My charts will tell me the length of the sides, the number of the sides, how much is routed out to from the circle, and the angle to cut the wood at.

Here is my link to my page. Wood Columns Data

I would appreciate any and all comments you may have on my tables. And if anyone is wanting a copy of my work, I have it all on an excel spreadsheet with even more information that I can email you if you like.

Eventually I will upload my jig that i am designing to smooth out my column. I have a rough drawing of it, but need to work on it just a little bit more.

AN interesting table. Is there a reason not to reduce the fractions (6/8 vs 3/4)?

I used ceiling function in excel to round up to the nearest 1/8 in that chart and 1/16 in the chart below.
