A couple of weeks ago. I decided that I needed a few more outlets in the shop. I looked at the aux box that my cousin put in didn’t have enough slots to do that. So I went to the local electrical shop. To my very big suprise, the box that I currently have is not a good one to have at all. She told me that that box has had problems for a long time, mainly with fire problems. That really got me interested in finding out about it. The box is a Federal Pacific. The box has been in the house since it was built. I had never had any problems with is except not enough slots. I found out about the box that it had been baned in 7 states. I talked to one person that had a storm strick the house. The first thing that the insurance adjuster told them we are replacing the box first because it was a problem child. So it seems that I am going to go with a ge box, with a 40 slot. I will have plenty of room for anything that I will ever need with that. I went with the 40 because it was the same price as the 30. The electriction is charging me $300.00 to replace it. The parts were only $245.00 for the box and all of the new breakers.

Tim , Thank god you decided to have more outlets . Find a this out about your box before something like a fire save you alot of heart ache . By adding the new box with 40 slots you have plenty of room to add outlets . maybe there is a recall on the box and you can get compensated just a ideal.
