As I noted in my first post in this series, one of the two boxes containing my Grizzly G0452P jointer had some damage upon delivery. Here is the state of things when i opened the box up:
And once I lifted off the top layer of styrofoam:
As you can see, that white bracket, which is for the fence mount, was basically free to bounce around and bang into the jointer outfeed table next to it. Overall, I was pretty lucky, in that there was only one small ding taken out of the fence side of my outfeed table. I think it is mainly on the side of the table, so it won’t actually compromise the flatness of the top. It looks a little worse in person than it does in the photo, but still pretty superficial overall:
One interesting thing I noticed is that, as this picture shows, the corners of the box were reinforced with strips of plywood:
Well, I should say, three corners were…
I wonder if they were just short one plywood slat when they packed my box up? Or if for some reason that corner is not meant to be reinforced? Judging by the result, it might’ve done some good. Anyway, the damage was really very minor and I don’t expect to be pursuing any claims. All of my other parts look to be in great shape.
