I am a retired university professor in the Philippines. In a pre-retirement seminar I attended one recommendation, among others, is to take up a hobby. One that engages your mind and hands and you enjoy doing. My father also enjoyed wood working. He also was a university professor. During his time power tools were beyond reach and rare. So I just had to learn in the old craftsman's way. It was fun.

When I finished college, I slowly acquired hand and power tools. I don't consider myself well versed with the trade yet as most of you are. My aim is to attain that proficiency. It may take a lifetime but the whole process of trying and achieving is in itself deeply rewarding.

I'll tell you more as I go along.

Hi there,
Welcome to LumberJocks… I joined the site myself almost a year ago and will give you fair warning, this site is VERY ADDICTIVE, VERY EDUCATIONAL, and VERY FUN…. so sit back, enjoy the ride and learn from the other LJ’s as they are a group of extremely talented people that are also very friendly…

Enjoy your time here on LJ and pass the word to any of your woodworking buddies about us…
