I quit........

I know that as long as I do woodworking or any type of work with my hands there will be those days that nothing works.

I cut it twice and its still to short. Nothing fits. No matter what I seem to touch today its not working. There is only one thing to do.

I find, other than to rant and rave on my blog – which seems to help relieve the stress some times the best thing I can do for myself – and my project is to quit – sweep the floor, then go to a movie.

Today is one of those days.

As patience a person as I am , I find, I still have my days. Today the wood and glass won. they are smarter than me. I have always said – all you need to be a craftsman – is be be just a little bit smarter than what ever it is your working with.

Today I’m not.

So be it.

I will regroup and go back at it tomorrow.

That’s the joy in woodworking I guess.

There is always tomorrow.

Looking for my broom and a good movie.

Any suggestions?

I’ve had days like that, & my wife always says,

”you better quit for the day.”

so there you have it – a movie and a good wife :)

i think perhaps it is in the air. Today Rick couldn’t find his watch. He searched the house only to find it shoved up his arm from when he put on his sweater. Then he almost left the house without his phone and his clipon sunglasses (there’s where the “good wife’ part comes in).. then he was searching for a new coffee machine for my mother and couldn’t find it in the store but then realized he was looking at can openers….
Yup.. must be something in the air.. .Time for a movie.

Hmm, Debbie, loses his watch, forgets his phone, thinks he is looking at a coffee maker when he’s actually looking at a can opener – I’d say it looks like time to trade him in for a younger model. LOL

Dusty, I’ve been there and done just that. As a matter of fact, yesterday was one of those days – scrap one pair of hinges for this box.

I prefer the mantra, go hard or go home…but I’m young and stupid still ;)

Dusty, you made the right choice. Better that you decided to quit, than to have harmed yourself. None of us like to accept what we see as defeat, even if it is only for today. Tomorrow we will succeed in our endevors, because we made the decision to wait and not to push it when things weren’t going our way.
