In 1964 I was a Junior in high school…Our final exam was to build a project that you could use around your home…..My Mom needed an end table, so I decided to try and build her one for Christmas…..By my standards today, it was pretty crude, but I “got ‘er done”, the teacher liked it, and I got a good final grad...

Back in March (and I really had to think about this) I was cutting out some parts to build a client a piece of furniture. The blade became pretty dull, so I switched blades. I took the dull blade off, and put it in a vat of cleaning solution, along with a little brass brush. Put the new blade on, and went back to cutting out more parts.I used th...

The Cardinals are my favorite baseball team, and I’m glad they are going to the World Series….This will be the first time since 1968 that they have played the Red Sox for the Series….They both are a strong team, and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top…..If you’re a fan of either, post your thoughts on...

Greetings guys and gals: As I was looking at my favorites this morning to see what all I had (I forgot, it’s been so long), it got me to thinking about this…..I’m going on nearly 3 years with LJs, and I’ve seen so many projects, blogs, and threads where people say ” I’ve got to build one of those, and it...

Yep…..34 years ago today I married a farmers daughter (ok….I can hear you snickering).. We had a “bluegrass wedding.” Lots of friends and pickers showed up. We had the wedding in an old school house, which was turned into a community building in Ropesville, Texas, close to Lubbock, Texas (for all you West Texas LJs). Foll...

I have 2 3” 3 ring notebook binders that I’ve used for years to store all of mine. One stores everything that I have bought over the last 30+ years that requires a manual or instructions. I never throw any of those away, as they are good references if I run into a problem with things such as power tools, saws, RAS, drill...

Greetings all, On May 10th, I had to go into the hospital for a total hip replacement. It got so bad that I couldn’t hardly get around, and trying to work in the shop was a major killer, or even just walking got to be torture. My “ball and socket” was completely worn out and shot. I spent 4 days in the hospital, and they get...

Hi all you April Fooler’s, I posted this question here about 1 1/2 years ago, and had some good responses. So ..I thought I would ask the question again, since we have lost so many of the old members, and have gained so many new ones. We still have a some of the old members, so they’ll probably remember the post…it’s ju...

Greetings all, After reading the question I asked, I think it really depends on how much time you spend in your shop. I know that I spend more time in mine in the fall and winter, cause I’m pretty busy in the spring and summer (like a lot of you) fishing, yardwork, etc. So less time in there means more money saved… Example: 2 years...

I built these pieces several years ago. The planer cabinet was built” high”(cause of my bad back) with drawers for storage, and casters to move it around. The “shorts bin” was a necessary item, and still is….Just a couple of items you might consider for your shop…..Just go to my woodshop pictures…Thanks&...
