Location: Bad Hindelang, Germany
Website:

My name is Josef, and I live in Germany, in a small mountain village in the Bavarian Alps. For several years, I have also been living in the United States, in the Chicago and Detroit areas for several years.
Education-wise, I am a mechanical engineer, and I earn my living by managing a small automotive company. To compensate for the office-work, I enjoy doing things with my hands: restoring (and riding) vintage two- and three wheeled vehicles, and woodworking. Also, hiking in our mountains (accompanied by my dog Paul) is one of my favorite ways to spend time.
At the moment, however, most of my spare time is taken up by renovating our house and barn – an old farmhouse which was built about 400 years ago. So, most of my working with wood at the moment goes into this major project…
One of the things I am working on is to build a new wood-workshop on the upper level of our barn. The new flooring just got finished, and I have started moving my equipment up there. It will be a makeshift setup for quite a while, because other projects take priority. But never the less, it is great to start from scratch.

Recently, I have spent a lot of time lurking and observing here: there are so many great ideas to try out. I am looking forward to spend more time with this knowledgeable group of sawdust-aficionados.
