Well, I'm 58, married to my bride of almost 40 years and I live on Keuka Lake in the Southern Tier upstate NY. I have a daughter and son-in-law in Richmond, VA and Son and daughter-in-law in Rochester, NY. Both plan to be extending their families soon so "grandpa" better get his butt in gear and get some projects done!
While in the USAF back in the 70s, I bought my first Sears circular saw, sabre saw, belt sander and drill with my monthly flight pay . Built some coffee and end tables out of 2x6s that we used for years, gave to our kids to furnish their places and then ended up back in my shop as work tables for some of my bench tools. Through the years I've built some furniture and gifts whenever I got the bug. I recently semi-retired and I hope to have a little more time to get in the shop. I had a great shop with all the toys....I mean tools.... back in the 80s and 90s but sold a lot of that when we temporarily moved into a cottage while building our "retirement home". I kept my 50s vintage Delta Unisaw and lathe as well as my jointer and planer. Recently bought a dust collector and I hope to get a band saw soon. For now, crude as it may be, I've resorted to using a chainsaw to get my bowl blanks somewhat round!
We have a pretty good supply of wood in the area so I really have no excuse for not building!

Thanks for the warm welcome. Looks like a great website. I’m from the Finger Lakes Region of the New York State. Did some woodworking in the 80s and 90s but kind of put things on hold while we built a house. Of course I sold some of my tools because we temporarily moved into a small cottage and I didn’t want stuff to rust in storage. I’m in the process of slowly reinvesting in some of that equipment. I just semi retired and I hope to get back at it. My daughter and son-in-law are expecting our first grand kid in March and I agreed to make a changing dresser so i just picked up some cherry. Of course its that time of year to make some Xmas presents so I’m thinking of getting back at the lathe and hopefully build a bunch of bottle stoppers. My son and daughter in law are also considering starting a family so it looks like plenty to build for! Well, thanks again for the welcome and I’m sure I’ll have a bunch of questions for you guys as time goes on! Jim
