A lady phonned to see if I would be interested in planing some Douglas fir…how wide can you plane??
... well its a 12×12 planer…. of course right there and then she said ok…
I made a slight error its a 12×6 thick , of course I thought this would be awsome to make a little extra cash ….plane some, what 1×12 at the widest??.... NOT the lady pulls up with a traler full of 6×10 4×12 , 8×8 and a couple of real 2×4…. well the shortest one is 12’ long
I now am switching to the 4’’ makita hand plane

its easier t move the plane rather than moving the wood…. the pile of sawdust grows…..

I had a Makita 12” planer several years ago and it was a good planer…but lightweight, anout 65 pounds if i remember correctly. Definitely not capable of the trailer load you described. You must really enjoy planing alot to take on planing that load with a hand plane. Is that the 4” Makita electric hand plane? Seems as if you really have your work cut out for you.

I can picture this scene quite vividly in my mind. The look on your face when she pulls up with the trailer, followed by the look on her face when you pull out that Makita electric hand plane. You thinking “Oh Crap!” and her thinking “THAT’S a 12×12 planer??!!!”

Hillarious!

When I saw the trailer pull up, I think I might have run out the back door.

David “Oh Crap” would be the nice version!!!!!!
