Today I saw a really cool and useful (I think) design on Yankodesign.com. This is a kitchen multi-tool for people that have use of only one hand/arm. I was drawn to the very simple, clean, and elegant look. It’s something anyone could have in their kitchen or store away easily. Just check out this picture.
If you go to the website they have more pictures that show how to use it to cut apples, bread, grate cheese, and open those tough foil covered yogurt containers. Check it out.
Now that I’m writing about this handy tool. I wonder if there are lumberjocks interested in doing a mass donation of these things to Walter Reed Army Medical Center for returning vets. Maybe lumberjocks.com could pledge to donate (I dunno) 200 of these things by some date (ie. xmas) and put the word out to all the woodworkers out there to begin building. There would have to be some basic design parameters, but everyone would have freedom to use materials, techniques, and decoration of their own. What do you think?
