My shop is a little, woodstove-heated, outdoor garage converted to a woodshop! Come on in – let’s build something!

Great looking shop and from what I can see looking in from the snow…it looks to be a neatly maintained, cozy shop too, especially with the wood stove fired up. ;^) Thanks for the pics.

Hmmmmm. Is that a table on your saw. I hope that shows up in the projects section.

That is an unfinished “tabouret” on the saw – built that with a friend (it was his choice) though I really think that it’s a beautiful little table. Everytime my wife and I go to visit at his house, I always wish I had my camera so I could get better pics of the table! One day I’ll take them…

Very nice shop. And wood heated, gives you something to do with those scrap pieces (and maybe even those major oopps!).

I would love heading out to that shop early in the morning, cup of hot coffee in hand… Did you do the conversion from garage to shop? It has great architectural details.

John – I did convert the old rotted out garage to the shop. When we bought the place the realtor said, “That’s a teardown!” So, I cut out all the rot, replaced it with sound wood, and completely rebuilt the front end. It’s small, but it works!

The door was from the dump – rescued just before a contractor was about to dump it over, windows from a house teardown, down the block, and the siding was improperly installed on the house, so took it off and put it on the shop! Thanks for you interest!

That’s a nice spot. I’d have a tough time coming into the main house. I’d probably get hungry though.

Very, very, nice Dorje. Very comfortable and efficient looking. I’m hoping my shop looks like that when it grows up…:). Looks like everything is very handy and you can always open the door for those long pieces.
Funny….I’ve always thought that I wanted to build a big shop when the time comes but that looks like it would have all the room I’d need for 99% of the work I do. It looks like a place I would really enjoy spending time in.

I like this very much Dorje. As a fellow small shop guy, I could see myself working in such a space especially if it’s heated. Being in MN, I only get half the year in the shop.
Thanks for letting us know about the pics.

lol don’t get overly excited.. you might lose your “grasshopper composure” and that wouldn’t look good. I think you have to jump and down without giving anyone any indication that you are doing so..

Dorje, I guess this is my first visit to your shop. I’m glad I stopped by. It reminds me of my shop. Just about the same style and size too. Yours is 17×12, I’m in 19×11.
Lets see, thats… 17… 11… carry the 1…
I’ve got 5 more square feet than you. HA! But that space is dedicated to the rats anyway. Oh well.
I like what I see, I appreciate and know firsthand the effort and thoughtfulness that goes into making a shop that size work efficiently. Nicely done. It looks very well organized. And great things do come [from] small packages, in other words your projects speak for themselves. Happy woodworking.

Wonderful place you have there , Dorje : ) Is that a 6” or 8” JET jointer ? I get to work out of approximately half of my cellar , which is about 11’x16’ and I share it with my washer and dryer , etc….ahhh , some day to have a stand alone workshop with a nice front porch and a leanto to store my long stuff under as it air dries , would be so nice : ) Thanks for sharing your little piece of Heaven with us : )

Dorje,
I don’t know how could I have missed your post but I am glad it came back up on my review list. You have a nice cozy space in which to work. You have organized it well and have utilized the space well. I like the way you are using the rafters for wood storage. That is a nice idea. You have a nice retreat in which you can relax. Thanks for posting the pictures. I enjoyed visiting with you.
