The book is here now- and I still have a few copies left that I can dedicate, sign, and send off. Let me know if you want one and how you want it signed. Go to my web site for more information: www.woodworks-by-donna.com
Please look at the information page for details about the book, the benefits of getting them from me, and the eight project chapters that were cut in final editing: http://www.woodworks-by-donna.com/UBSBBINFO.html!http://www.woodworks-by-donna.com/BookCover.jpg(The Ultimate Band Saw Box Book cover)!:
Since some of you have asked for more info specifically for Australian orders- here it is:
Mail-in order:
The current conversion rates make it $22.88AUD for the basic book and 2 free projects. For the package of book and all eight projects it is $35.64AUD.
Shipping will be by USPS International Flat Rate which is $12AUD. That is the least expensive shipping choice. There are no handling charges- it is my pleasure to send you the book.
Through PayPal:
I’ve looked at the PayPal charges for international transactions and it looks like the book alone, with the two free projects, will cost $23.44AUD. The book with the eight cut projects would be $36.50AUD. These prices include the 2.5% charge from PayPal for the conversion. Unfortunately, my PayPal payment page is set up for USD payments and includes the$4.05USD postage. International orders will have to be calculated and paid for by check, or by a separate PayPal payment- with an email to me as to which free projects you have chosen. Send me an email, donpbk@yahoo.com, and we can confirm the prices before you make the payment.
Thanks for your interest,
Donna

I’m curious, Donna, why is this directed to us Aussies?

Wellll- I guess I figured this was an Australian group- no? Oh well, at least the Aussies have some info now.
Je suis une Canuck aussie, bien. Donna LaChance (that is the Canuck part) Menke. Darn, if I’d thought about it I could have been ‘canuckdon’ too.
I haven’t worked up the prices for Canadians yet, but I believe the shipping is $7.50USD and I imagine the PayPal charge for money conversion is the same 2.5%.
We cannot use the PayPal as it is set up for USA payments, but you can just pay me with the amount we figure out in a regular PayPal payment.
If you have any questions drop me an email- donpbk@yahoo.com- and I’ll do my best to answer.

Hey, Donna, I was born in Victoria, B.C. Lived in Canada until I was 45 and then a business opportunity took me to Australia. My entire family made the move with me because I promised them it would only be for 2-3 years. I’m still here 19 years later and now a dual citizen to boot.
My name should be AussieCanuck.

Well- I may have been misleading there- I live in Texas, not Australia. My French is rusty, and I thought ‘aussie’ was ‘also’ in French. I thought it was interesting that they were spelled the same, but I’m likely to be wrong.
My relatives all came from the Quebec area, grandfather born there and the other great-grandparents born there. French was spoken more than English when the relatives got together or I went to the grandparents. We all lived within 2-3 miles of each other in Western Massachusetts, so we got together a lot.
I’ve never been to Australia, but if the opportunity came my way I’d jump at it. I’d enjoy diving the Great Barrier Reef before I get too old and creaky.

Donna, to complete the connection, I have a brother who has become an American citizen, and is a true Redneck living not far from you in Dripping Springs.

In case you are wondering, he’s the one on the right.

Now THAT is a javalina- Here piggy piggy! This little piggy ain’t a gonna make it home tonight.
Dripping Springs is just a few miles away from here- maybe 50. I go through there every time I go to Fredricksburg for carving seminars. Do you come to visit him now and then? We could meet in Austin and have a cuppa. We are also going to have a little book signing party here the first part of Feb; if you are in the neighborhood you would be most welcome.

Just an update- The book is here. I’ve just finished sending off 150 pre-orders and my hand is in recovery from all the autographs and dedications. I have new order pages for those of you outside of the USA, so the postage will be correct. For more information please click here to go to the info page on my web site: http://www.woodworks-by-donna.com/UBSBBINFO.html
The response so far has been wonderfully positive. If you would be interested in reading some comments from people who have received the book you can go here: http://theubsbbook.proboards78.com/index.cgi
It has been worth all the effort to see that people will be reading and using my book to make some great projects. Donna Menke

Hi I’ve started on my carving of our dog, Emily, and I’ve decided to do a blog as I work.
http://emilythedachshundcarving.blogspot.com/
I did this once before with the bluebird carving and I found that it helped me to keep on track. Others have remarked that it was informative, so now I’ll do a mammal in hardwood.
It should take me a couple of weeks to do it, so check back at will. Make a comment or two too- if you like.
Thanks,
Donna Menke

That is great, Karson, it will be in Monday’s mail- should get to you in 2-3 days. There are lots of nice designs that you can use to make more items to sell so that you can buy more ‘toys’.
I’ll also send you the links to the Hearts Boxes and the Pinwheel Box, as you requested. I’ve spent some time lately making 2 of the Pinwheel Boxes, one bigger one in canarywood, and a medium-sized one in walnut with brass trim. The walnut box is drying now. They came out so much better than the one that I did first- the one you saw in spalted maple. Amazing isn’t it- the more you do something the better you get at it.

Donna. Do you glue up your blanks or try to go for one piece. And are they stronger if made with multiple layers.
