I guess I would have to say that I get my 'skill' from my Dad. I was just a baby, barely a few hours old when we first met but I knew then that we were destined for greatness...or so I thought.
Seriously though, my Dad is one of those guys who can basically do anything he sets his mind to. I'm not quite that good but I try. I've done a stint in the Canadian military as a teletype and crypto tech and I found back then that I enjoyed doing things with my hands, fixing things.
I started woodworking a few years back because I didn't want to pay some crazy price at a store for computer desks for my kids. What I produced was awful but I was at least proud of the fact that I did it myself. After that, a few more projects were done and I decided that if I am going to do this, then I should get serious so I took some evening courses at Algonquin college and got my Cabinetmaking certificate.

Hey Rusty, thanks for the welcome…
I’ve been on here for a couple of days poking around and finally had an epiphany….why am I not signed up??
I’ve been woodworking for a few years but still an amateur.
I’m making a couple of jewelry boxes for my daughter in law and a friend of my wife’s mother and was looking for ideas and a specific method for making a specific set of legs for them….whew, that was a mouthful!
I’ll post a few pictures once I get settled in.
