Retired civil engineer; lives in south Louisiana; like to work with hand tools, but I am not a purist.
My wife and I have been married for almost 37years. We were married on my wife's birthday so I cannot afford to forget our anniversary and her birthday due to double jeopardy. We have two adult children along with four grandchildren (all girls).
Hurricane Gustav (September, 2008) destroyed our house by pushing over a 66" diameter water oak tree into our house, splitting the house in half and opening up a skylight all the way to heaven. Some of the projects I have in my gallery are made from wood salvaged from the old house before it was demolished.
I worked for 32 years for a local public water utility and retired in November, 2010. I stayed retired for two full years, with unlimited shop time, then went back to work in the water business, serving my former colleagues in a different role. I am now in an administrative role to a professional water industry association. I've failed retirement!
-- People say I hammer like lightning. It's not that I'm fast -- it's that I never hit the same place twice!

Made some more progress today. I lightly sanded down the first spray finish coat and applied a second coat—looks pretty smooth. I put the top and wings face down on my workbench and attached the wings to the top. I carried the top (...
Short update on the Unisaw Rehab project. Picked up a matched set of belts for the Unisaw today. They are Jason A26 (4L280) belts. Ran some steel wool over the primer coat, blew and wiped it off, then applied one coat of Rusto...
