think about my favorite wood, Huon Pine.

Many of these trees, now standing in preserves in Tasmania, are dated between 2000 and 3000 years old. But how about 10,000 years old? Here’s a very interesting article on the Methuselah of all trees.

Hi Don;
—-this is a very good writing you have shared! I am interested in those Huon Pine and if I’m correct, I believe I was reading that a lot of them are being brought to the surface, where they have been buried or preserved under water. Also I remember reading that only a special few have the rights to harvest the timber of the Huon Pine.

Ancient is what I say about one such as this and then there are the stories to tell. We blog and tell stories, but then I just think of what this one could say….but then again, there I go thinking about talking to trees.

Thank you for this website and again….
GODSPEED,
Frank

Interesting Story. When I think of pine it is what I burn in the old woodstove. Sometimes i use it in furniture, but it has a stigma of being a cheap wood. What a wonderful world of wood.

Very cool. Sort of makes you want to do especially good work with this timber, if only out of respect and reverence.
Thanks for sharing the link, and the glimpse back through geologic time.
