I want to build a rocking chair for a nursery as my wife and I are expecting our first child and am curious if anyone has any input as to who has the better instructional video/ templates between Scott Morrison (actually looking at Scott’s simple rocker design) and Charles Brock’s Maloof inspired rocker. Both look well thought out but Scott Morrison’s video is approximately 3hrs for a less complex design whereas Charles is under 2 hours for a more complex design so it leads me to wonder if Scott’s goes into more detail therefore being a better bet for me since I will pretty much be dependant upon the video to guide me in my venture to not turn a couple hundred dollars worth of wood into pretty sawdust. I thought about attending Charles Brocks class but it would be difficult for me to take a week off of work to attend his class so Im thinking I will give the video a shot before taking a class. I actually have bitten off quite a bit and am planning on building not only a rocker but a complete baby bedroom suite that can convert to a toddler bed and full bed plus a matching dresser. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I can’t speak for the Charles Brock video, but I do have the Scott Morrison simple rocker video. I found it to be very informative and very easy to follow. I would get the video and the templates. I had never built a rocker or any kind of chair before and mine turned out great. It will take a little time to make all the templates, but once you get that done it’s not so bad.
