In this stage I choose the wood I want to use, usually I buy it, but this time I got lucky and unearth this beatiful “quebracho” wood from the backyard.

Its a dark red and VERY hard wood. Its about 2” thick.

So you have exotic, very hard, rot-resistant, insect-resistant wood buried in your back yard? That’s pretty cool.

John, it is reclaimed wood. It used to be a lorry scale. It must have more than 50 years. My father made 3 big table tops a few years back. This was the worst bits that remained.
