So today I had an hour to kill so I went up to my newest favorite store in XXXXwood, MA. It’s a junk store pretty much, they buy out estates and sell off the house contents, pretty damn cheaply I might add. Anyway, as a lover of all that is junk and all that is tools I picked my way through and found some decent stuff at a spectacular price!

So I picked up a 25’ extension cord, a Stanley framing square (even though I probably have 6 of them at $0.50 cents I just had to have it. I also got a couple of decent rasps, a USA made 4” C clamp, 2 halfway decent (and in unused condition!) old hand mitre saws, a nice pair of fishing pliers, a brand new set of 3 Craftsman easy outs, and a brand new set of yellow Wiss tin snips. Every day stuff, nothing fancy or rare but hey for $6.00 for the lot how could I go wrong! Yes ladies and gentlemen $6.00 dollars American. $6 beaner renos, $6 little smackeroos! Pretty damn good grab if I don’t hurt my shoulder patting my own back….
BUT….. The buy of the day….. A Husqvarna 455 Rancher chain saw 22” bar. And it started on the first pull. Guess how much??? Wait for it….. TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS!! Are you kidding me!!! I almost fell over myself when the young lady said $25 bucks. She actually said, (and I quote) “is $25 dollars ok, honey bun?” Not only did I get it for $25 bucks but I got called “Honey Bun” by a cute 20 something year old! How could my day get any better….. Hahah. It’s been a long time since my chubby, balding, tattooed, wrinkly self has been called a term of endearment like that, Hahahahaha…. Don’t be hating! You guys are jealous. Here is a picture of the saw and if my wife doesn’t catch me I’ll post a picture of the young lady in my next blog. I know, I suck!!

Get out there and find some tools! They are out there, yard sale season is coming, pawn shops will take cash offers, Craigslist is 1/2 the price of eBay and I’m keeping the name of my favorite store a secret!

With those prices, watch your back. They could be fencing stolen property, and you’re an accomplice to the crime! LOL

Congratulations on the great finds.

I would never buy stolen tools, I would be ashamed to put another man out of work so I can get a deal. I have guys show up on my job sites selling tools all the time, and in 28 years I’ve never bought a single nail off the junkies that show up selling $500 tools for $50. I know you were kidding but there is a policy on my job sites, if someone shows up selling tools and you buy them consider it your 2 week notice. I’ve had $40,000 worth of tools and materials stolen off a job on the Eastern Promenade (Portland, ME ocean front property overlooking the old civil war forts and the islands in Casco Bay. Damn near put me out of business. Unfortunately with the severe drug problem here in the North East I even had to start locking up $11 rolls of felt paper! It used to be Grace Ice & Water shield and rolled aluminum would have to be locked up like Fort Knox , (don’t even get me started on copper). as for the $40,000 I ended up getting about 60% of it back from my insurance company but any of you guys that have ever put in a claim know you have to jump through hoops just to get a little more than half back. You tell me how my $500 deductible ends up equaling a $16,000 loss. I’m a builder, not a lawyer. I got into the wrong business. I guess I was just to honest to be one of them vampire-lawyers!
