At my wits end.... - 11 replies
Ok…. I bought this Craftsman drill press off of crags list a couple of years ago. It works just fine, but it wobbles. I’m going to pick up a dial indicator to measure the wobble, but I know I need to get the chuck and spindle out. I found the manual on line. The manual says to “Carefully tap chuck with a mallet” and t...

Is there anyone in the Chicagoland area who knows these things? I’d like to set it up just for making cross cuts. If not…. ANYON...

Miter Saw recommendations - 25 replies
Hey all, I’m looking to buy my first miter saw and would like your imput regarding what to buy. I’m leaning toward one of the 10” Hitachi’s right now. They look to be well made and the price seems good. Any reasons you can think of not to buy one? Would I be wise to spend an extra $100 on a DeWalt or Bosh? TIA Billy

Maple - Chicagoland IN - 0 replies
Hey all, First off, if this is not the right place to post this, please let me know. I had to bring down some limbs from the maple in my back yard. The wood was in excellent shape, it was just in the way of the second story being built on the house! The family came and picked over the big logs (my wife didn’t consult me) but there...

What to expect out of this Table Saw? - 10 replies
Hey all! New guy here. I recently got bitten by the woodworking bug and had this old table saw fall into my lap. It belonged to a buddy (was his grandfathers). He never used it, and was going to throw it away after his wife backed into it with the car! She knocked it over and mangled the motor mount. I took it off of his hands and used some a...
