I am trained in accounting with quickbooks, but with the downturn of the economy I've been doing home remodeling and repair with some custom framing like custom corbels, etc. However, my passion is designing and building furniture using exotic woods with inlaid fused dichroic glass. My design style evolved over a period of a few years and was inspired by my research of Art Nouveau architecture and metalwork. My designs have heavier lines, so I call it 'Modern Art Nouveau'.
I also enjoy acquiring and and restoring Arts & Crafts furniture. The stain patina of the quatersawn white oak is amazing.
Probably the most enjoyable aspects of woodworking is finding that particular board that 'fits', sort of like the ah ha moment. Then, the many hours designing and researching are really fascinating, taking often as long as the actual project. Last, seeing your imagination come to life.
