at the neaderthaler I am I seek help
so with permission from David Craig

I will use his words as they were mine
(changed a little the orignal is here

I have been an LJ member for 12 months now, admiring the projects of those so gifted and occasionally posting my humble offerings. try to get shoptime to Work on a project, I realized, we are all part of a chain of a living barrel of monkeys.

When we are new, the top, the bar that is raised, seems so very high, impossible to climb or reach up to. But, when we lift up our hand (our paw?) we don’t touch empty air, but a hand above us that connects us to the chain as we reach our own hand to those below.

Those on the top attempt the impossible, while those below attempt what was once impossible for themselves, all following the same vision, dream, achieving what we once told ourselves couldn’t be done.

Australia, America, Great Britain, Canada, Africa, Europe, Asia no continent too far, no timezone too distant, for us to connect to this chain.

I am proud to be a monkey in a barrel of monkeys.

My thanks to those above and below for putting your hand in mine.

thank you all for letting me being here and letting me learn so much from all of you
it has been a realy big pleasure for me to learn to know you all
during that year both with the ups and downs there has been and wether you like it or not
I´m staing and make my foolish comments and questions

I tip my hat for you L Js may it bee another safe year for you

Speaking for myself, I find it very fascinating that there is a means such as LJ’s for people from around the world to share ideas about woodworking. The comments and compliments of very capable and talented woodworkers about things we do with our hands and minds really does mean a lot. Speaking English is easy for a native speaker but I admire those of you for whom English is at best an aquired tongue, and then to try to write it too. Your encouragement, sense of humor, and input is really appreciated by me for sure.

I still have this picture in my head of you dragging this heavy box down the street to bring a shaft to Mads to make a sander . What kind of friend does that anymore?? I hope one day I make it to Denmark and get to visit with you, Mads, Flemming, Napoleon, who have I missed?

Keep posting,

Dennis, Congratulations on being here a year. That was the easy part as this site is very easy to stay in and learn things which is the best part. The friends we find and make here is also a plus. I cannot say how many new things I have learned here and will continue to learn more things.

Dennis, I feel highly honored that you requested to quote me for your post. I can honestly say that no matter how much you feel you lack the words to express yourself, you have never failed to make my day reading your comments. I feel a great deal of affection towards you and I do hope some day to make it to your island and shake your hand person to person. LJs just would not be what it is without you.

Happy birthday my friend and God bless.

I am glad you are here Dennis and I must say that I enjoy reading your posts and marvel at how so often on forums that two people who are well versed in the same language can still collide badly when it comes to humor. It is so easy to misinterpret something said in fun since you can’t see facial expressions and other visible cues. The reason I marvel is that even though English is not your primary language, you manage not only to convey your meaning very well, but you also manage to convey the humor of a clever mind without colliding with anyone. That’s not easy, so I say Well done and please keep it up.

Also, thanks for using David’s barrel of monkeys analogy. Somehow I missed it the first time around and enjoyed reading it this time.

CONGRATULATIONS DENNIS!! Happy first birthday my friend.
It is a pleasure and a honour to have you as a buddy, you are always quick to offer, a kind word, helpful advice,
a shoulder to cry on, moral support and even Danish pastry.

Have a wonderful day Dennis, see you at the next post.
